Cara Beckinsale - Acupuncture
Cara is an experienced acupuncturist with a strong background in both traditional Chinese medicine and Western biomedicine. She offers a holistic, trauma-informed, and integrative approach to care, supporting both physical and mental wellbeing through personalised acupuncture treatments.
Training and Qualifications
Cara achieved a First Class qualification following three years of intensive study in acupuncture with the Traditional Acupuncture Association (TAA), qualifying in 2015. Her training was comprehensive, covering all aspects of Chinese medicine and acupuncture theory, with a particular focus on the Five Element system. Alongside this, she completed extensive study in Western biomedicine, allowing her to work in a safe, evidence-informed and clinically grounded way.
Cara was selected for a sponsored advanced training programme in
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture, further developing her skills through a study programme at Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine in Harbin, China — one of the leading institutions for Chinese medicine worldwide.
NHS and Integrative Clinical Work
In June 2020, Cara became co-founder and Clinical Director of a pioneering acupuncture project supporting
NHS staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. This service was developed to help frontline workers manage the physical and emotional strain of extreme workloads.
The project ran for one year, with 80% of participants reporting improvement in their symptoms. Following its success, Cara and her team were invited to take part in an integrative trauma project within the NHS, working with two further cohorts and deepening her experience in mental health, trauma, and stress-related conditions.
Areas of Special Interest
Cara’s primary specialism is mental health, including stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and trauma-related presentations. She also enjoys working with sports people and active individuals, helping them return to the activities they love through targeted, holistic acupuncture care.
She has a particular interest in complex or long-standing cases, situations where other approaches may not have provided clear answers and is passionate about acupuncture’s ability to create meaningful change.
A Personal, Holistic Approach
Cara’s treatments are calm, intuitive, and highly individualised. She takes time to understand the whole person, not just symptoms, combining traditional wisdom with modern clinical understanding. Her work reflects Grey Door Therapy Clinic’s commitment to safe, professional, and compassionate care.
Sessions and Fees
Acupuncture sessions: £60.00
A Little More About Cara
Outside of the clinic, Cara can often be found enjoying silent discos, hiking, pub quizzes, yoga, and international travel, usually with a cup of tea in hand and a soft spot for leopard print.
