Liz Lanphier - Acupuncture
Liz is an experienced acupuncturist and Chinese Herbal Medicine practitioner at Grey Door Therapy Clinic, Brighton and Hove. She brings a deeply non-judgemental, compassionate, and inclusive approach to her work and welcomes people from all walks of life.
Liz genuinely loves what she does.
“With over 10 years of practice, I am still inspired by the people I meet.”
Background & Path to Chinese MedicineLiz’s journey into Chinese medicine is rich and diverse. After completing her first university degree in the United States and postgraduate studies, she worked across a wide range of fields — including an Election Commission, political campaigns, and teaching computer classes in Nebraska, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York. She later worked for a major investment bank in New York City before relocating to London.
It was in 2006 that Liz began her lifelong studies in Chinese medicine, a path that brought together her intellectual curiosity, intuitive nature, and deep connection to healing.
Nature, Horses & HealingA consistent thread throughout Liz’s life has been her relationship with horses, which she has worked with since childhood. Horses introduced her to nature, health, healing, intuition, herbs, and acupuncture.
Despite 11 years of university education, Liz considers horses and nature to have been her greatest teachers. This is why Chinese medicine resonates so deeply with her — it is a medicine rooted in observation, listening, balance, and relationship.
Her clinical style flows between logical, knowledge-based practice and intuitive, felt understanding, and she believes the most effective treatments arise from a dance between the two.
Clinical Experience and Special Interests As a practitioner, Liz has:
This breadth of experience has strengthened her ability to work thoughtfully and effectively, particularly in cases where symptoms are long-standing or difficult to resolve.
Advanced Acupuncture PracticeIn recent years, Liz has been deepening her practice through mentorship in Advanced Acupuncture, an exceptionally powerful methodology that works with
all 68 channels of the human body. (Most modern acupuncture systems focus primarily on the 12 main channels.)
This advanced approach has been an exciting and transformative development in her work, allowing her to access what she describes as the true depth, power, and beauty of acupuncture.
