Jo Donnelly - Humanistic Counsellor
Jo Donnerly is a counsellor at Grey Door Therapy Clinic, offering one-to-one counselling for
adults and young people.
She believes that everyone has the capacity to work towards a happier and more fulfilling life, and that mental and emotional wellbeing are fundamental to overall health.
Therapy can be a powerful tool in restoring balance and supporting positive change. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in effective therapy, regardless of modality. For this to happen, clients must feel met with empathy, authenticity, and without judgement. Jo’s intention is to offer exactly this kind of therapeutic relationship.
Experience and Background
Jo has over 20 years’ experience working in mental health and social care, bringing a depth of understanding and compassion to her therapeutic work. This experience naturally led her to train as a counsellor.
She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works in line with professional and ethical standards.
Therapeutic Approach
Jo works from a client-centred approach, collaborating closely with clients during sessions. She aims to meet each individual where they are on the day, offering support that is responsive, respectful, and grounded.
She places strong emphasis on building a trusting, open, and supportive therapeutic relationship, walking alongside clients on their personal journey at a pace that feels right for them.
Jo provides an inclusive, non-judgemental, and safe space where clients are welcome to explore whatever they choose to bring to therapy.
Taking the First Step
Beginning therapy can feel daunting, and Jo recognises that taking the first step is often the hardest.
She offers a free initial consultation, giving clients the opportunity to get to know her, ask questions, and decide whether working together feels like the right fit. There is no pressure or obligation to continue if it does not feel right.
Clients are welcome to get in touch by email, text, or phone to arrange a consultation.
