Nadia Stuckey – Dance and Movement Psychotherapist
at Grey Door Therapy Clinic, Hove
Nadia Stuckey is a qualified and accredited Dance and Movement Psychotherapist
(MA, Association for Dance and Movement Psychotherapy UK). She works with infants, young people and adults, drawing on a broad, integrative therapeutic approach that blends talking therapies with somatic, creative and embodied practices.
Dance and Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) recognises that mind and body are deeply interconnected, and that emotional experiences, psychological patterns and unresolved difficulty often express themselves physically as well as verbally. Through movement, gesture and creative expression alongside verbal reflection, DMP offers an alternative channel of insight — especially where words alone may not fully capture a person’s experience.
Nadia provides a supportive, non-judgemental and collaborative space, meeting each client where they are. Her work is grounded in theories including attachment, trauma recovery, Gestalt and existential perspectives, all shaping a therapeutic environment that fosters self-compassion, agency and greater clarity of self-experience.
How Nadia Can Support You
Nadia works with a wide range of emotional, psychological and relational issues. She has specialist experience in:
- Trauma and PTSD recovery
- Disordered eating and body image concerns
- Anxiety, panic and stress regulation
- Neurodiversity, processing and self-understanding
- Interpersonal and relational difficulties
- Grief, loss and life transitions
- Parenting and self-identity challenges
- Intrusive thoughts, perfectionism and self-criticism
- Perinatal, postnatal and parenting-related stress
- Self-harm and emotional dysregulation
Nadia’s experience includes supporting people with anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating and ARFID through building healthier relationships with nourishment and the body, whether the process is primarily verbal, movement-based, or creatively embodied.
Approaches are tailored to each individual’s needs and preferences — sessions may focus on exploring patterns through dialogue, engaging the body to release, regulate or express emotion, or a blend of both. The aim is always to help you feel safer, more grounded and more able to connect with your inner experiences and relationships in life.

- Sessions are client-led and firmly grounded in the therapeutic relationship, allowing you to set the pace and direction of your work.

Why Choose This Approach?
Dance and Movement Psychotherapy can be especially powerful for those who:
- feel stuck in habitual thinking or chronic stress
- sense that verbal therapy doesn’t fully capture their experience
- want a deeper connection between body, emotion and sense of self
- are seeking new ways to process emotion, trauma or internal conflict
By inviting the body into the therapeutic process, DMP supports self-awareness, emotional regulation and tangible change, helping clients to find grounded ways of being that feel authentic and empowering.
