Reflexology - Claire McCarthy
With years of experience helping individuals manage stress and supporting expectant mothers.
Claire has witnessed firsthand the incredible benefits of reflexology.
This ancient therapeutic practice dates back to 2500 BC, with roots in Egypt, China, Africa,
and Native American traditions.
Reflexology is based on the principle that the body’s organs and structures are mirrored in the
reflex points of the feet and hands.
By applying precise thumb holds and pressure techniques, reflexology stimulates energy flow to corresponding areas of the body. This encourages natural healing and balance.
Reflexology is not a "cure-all," but it is a highly effective method for preventing future health issues. My work often focuses on relieving stress and identifying energy blockages, which can help address a range of conditions, including:
- Skin concerns - psoriasis, acne...
- Stress and stress - related conditions
- Back pain including sciatica
- Digestive issues/IBS
- Menstrual challenges - PMS, menopause and irregular cycles
- Fertility - supporting women with infertility and men with Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Reflexology for expectant mothers eases the physical and emotional challenges of pregnancy. It is a gentle,
non-invasive way to support your body’s systems, particularly the nervous and endocrine (hormonal) systems, promoting balance and wellbeing. Regular treatments can also help increase lactation and improve mood, fostering a more positive experience during pregnancy and beyond.
For best results, six weekly treatments leading up to your due date.
These sessions prepare the body for labor by balancing hormones and increasing oxytocin levels.
If your baby arrives later than expected, a “priming for labor” technique can help things along naturally.
Reflexology can also help alleviate common pregnancy-related concerns, including:
- Back pain and sciatica
- Braxton Hicks contractions
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Groin and ligament pain
- Heartburn
- Insomnia
- Nausea and vomiting
- Oedema (swelling in ankles, wrists, or fingers)
- Symphysis pubic pain
