Claire McCarthy - Bowen Technique
Over the past 24 years, Claire has had the privilege of offering care and healing to a wide spectrum of individuals ranging from expectant mothers, infants, and children dealing with challenges like ADHD, asthma, Tourette's and digestive issues. Additionally, Claire has effectively addressed injuries in athletes, footballers, and rugby players, promoting relaxation for those enduring chronic stress. My dedication extends to assisting seniors in leading fulfilling and healthy lives well into their later years. Fortunately, I've also had the pleasure of sharing my knowledge by teaching these modalities. Currently, I serve as a Bowen educator for Bowen College UK and tutor at the Natural School of Therapies in London.
While the Bowen technique has become the focal point of my practice over the last decade, I continue to provide treatments in Aromatherapy, Reflexology, and Advanced and Deep Tissue Massage—modalities that still captivate my passion. However, Bowen therapy has emerged as my primary approach for addressing emotional conditions and tackling issues such as musculoskeletal pain, stress, and anxiety.
Beyond the diverse range of treatments and programs at my disposal, I consistently prioritize conducting thorough consultations with my clients. This involves delving into their medical history, lifestyle, and any existing injuries or conditions. This meticulous process ensures the development of a customized wellness program tailored to meet their unique needs.
Claire McCarthy offers a range of treatments at The Grey Door Therapy Clinic Brighton and Hove,
combined to make the most individual programmes,
addressing specific health needs at all stages of life from pregnancy and childhood conditions,
through sports injuries to age-related conditions that can restrict the pleasure and quality of life if left untreated.
Claire’s experience in therapy covers a broad spectrum.
Since qualifying in 2001, her patients have been treated with Deep Tissue Massage, Reflexology and the
Bowen Technique.
A Bowen Technique treatment consists of a series of gentle rolling moves with frequent pauses between moves giving the body time to benefit from each set.
Practitioners treat the body as a whole or can target a specific problem, as they are able to pinpoint stress buildup in muscle groups and then release it.
The Bowen Technique both balances and stimulates – the restorative process beginning once the body is relaxed.
It’s referred to as ‘complementary’ – meaning it will enhance and complement other medical treatments.
However, it should be noted that receiving other manipulative therapies immediately following a Bowen session can undermine the effectiveness of the Bowen work.
It is better to wait a week before starting any other treatments.
1 hr session £65
Course of 4 session £240
