Dheeresh Turnball - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Dheeresh's focus is on helping you to accept and appreciate your life, starting with your body and mind.
Maybe you are struggling with a particular problem, like depression, worry, panic or OCD, or simply want to find out more about who you really are; either way, a combination of CBT and mindfulness
will likely help you in the right direction.
Benefits of working with Dheeresh
- Come to understand better how your mind and body work (from the inside)
- Deal with depression by learning how to act in your own best interests (which includes those around you)
- Deal with anxiety by learning how to become comfortable with discomfort
- Develop compassion for yourself and others
- Discover that we are not our mind-contents, so we can stand back from our thoughts and feelings
- Learn to question your own thoughts - and find better alternatives
- Learn the basics of Zen meditation and chi gong (if you want to!)
- Accept yourself
About Dheeresh
Dheeresh works as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, trained on the Oxford Diploma course of 1997, and accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (www.babcp.com) in 2000, and subsequently reaccredited.
He was not content simply to rest there. Having always been interested in the overlap between the therapeutic and the spiritual, it is no surprise that Dheeresh was drawn to the mindfulness side. Especially since he'd been a student of Zen since the early 1980s... and before that a sannyasin in Poona. He had six months of my own psychotherapy in the 1980s. Before he trained as a therapist, and had six years working in an Oxfordshire Mind day centre called Acorn, where he learned about mental health issues as well as developing a love of group work.
