Tamsin Taylor - Counsellor
Tamsin has been working as a counsellor since 2008. She trained at the University of Brighton and then worked in various agencies and schools in the city before setting up her private practice. Having lived and worked in New York from 2017 to 2021, before coming back to Sussex. Tamsin really enjoyed working with clients from a different cultural background and have had the opportunity to appreciate the unique issues that come with living in America.
Tamsin is deeply invested in helping people find their way through difficult situations and moments in their life. Having worked in the field so long has seen a broad range of issues. Whilst having no set speciality, as a woman, she has grown increasingly concerned about the lack of support women are offered around hormonal issues and changes. The help available falls short of what is needed which is why she was delighted to be able to work with Luna Hub, who support women with PMDD. Tamsin has also found that counselling women through the menopause can help address the changes that we see at this stage of life.
The pandemic has left many people feeling very differently about the world. Work looks different, social situations can be stressful in ways they weren’t before. Anxiety and depression are at an all time high, so unsurprisingly these issues are prominent in her work at the moment.
Tamsin predominantly uses the person centred approach and believes it is important to focus on all elements of ourselves, body, mind and spirit. When we are able to look at the whole picture we are able to address the issues and feelings that have become intrusive and unhelpful.
"Therapeutic change can only occur when the relationship with the client and therapist is trusting and transparent which is why it is so important for our relationship to be at the centre of the work we do. I will work hard to ensure you feel comfortable to explore your life and concerns with me."
